You don’t explain how you stop the pulley from turning round when you’re turning the four bolts on undoing them. ? I’m trying to do the four bolts and the pulley just keeps turning the engine thank you.

Always coat the O ring on oil filter cap before screwing the cap down, or it will tear and leak oil under engine pressure.

Coolant hose plastic flange WILL break. Buy a replacement one made of aluminum. Be sure to fish out any broken shards of plastic from that plastic flange, or they will break your engine or pump.

Just drain the oil and put on towel on accessory drive belt, if you have a new belt. If your belt is old, use continental brand belts with ribs looking like running shoe soles. They have best traction to prevent belt slip. Tested on supercharger vs traditional V belts.

Your 10 to 15 seconds time frame lapses immediately if you open the drivers door right after you have removed the key

Awesome video. BMW knew how to build cars back in 2008, and good to see yours is still going strong. Did you drive in 5th or in 6th on the motorway? Modern cars are not capable of such distances, adverts now boast of ranges of less than 300 miles, so much for progress. To think you can now buy a 15 year old 5 series for less than five grand - it's a no brainer really.

That crankcase breather hose is so over engineered.What's wrong with using a rubber hose held on with jubilee clips.

when doing the cleaning on the intake ports, isnt there a chance stuff falls inside the engine? im a complete n00b so pls enlighten me. have seen other videos were they talk about being careful so the valves are not open and stuff falls down. but then again im a n00b and dont know how this egr/intake stuff works :D im kinda keen to clean my a6 allroad c7, as im sure its pretty gunky in there as well

George put another nut on the diff side of your bearing pull and lock the two nuts together. This will stop either spinning and negate the need for a 3rd hand holding a spanner

Hi George, I am an ex vehicle mechanic, I was on the spanners for 32 years before i moved over to vehicle collision estimating, 3 weeks ago i bought an E86 with the N52 3.0 engine, I was looking at Datsun 240/260Z S30's for stupid ££ and suddenly realized the E86 is the 2000's equivalent so i had to get one being like ££ cheaper and they don't fall apart with rust issues! It is my first BMW at 61 years old!! I've been out of car mechanics for a long time but the basics never change, I just need updating! Your content on repairing the N52 is top notch mate, I've saved all your videos for the jobs i have to do on my Z4 Coupe as you are very methodical and precise and will save me a bit of head scratching! I'm obviously subbed to your channel and you come across so much better and knowledgeable than other so called BMW 'Expert's' on UA-cam IMO. 👌

Yes! Mine is a 08 987.1 Cayman 5spd and it's so much fun on twisty back roads. It came with 17's but I had a set of 18's from a previous Cayman and it's more "nimble" feeling with the smaller ones. Less unsprung weight and reacts faster to inputs. Speed chrono also "tightens" up the throttle for increased response to inputs as well as changing the rev limiter to a hard limit as opposed to gradual. Find one that's been driven, really driven and well maintained, buy it and you'll love it.

I have one almost identical George. Had many BMWs (still have 2 ) but the Boxster is on another level engineering wise and drive wise. Mine is unfortunately built March 2006 and therefore £750 a year to tax. Only drive it for a couple of months or so a year so it’s going to have to go.

By the way was that car Made in Finland? Throughout the years they assembled Porsche Boxters for some time in Finland. Later on they assembled some of the Mercedes SUVs. They started assembling SAAB about 1969-70. Nowadays they are specialized in making the roofs for convertables with, I think, a factory in Germany or Poland.

The first drive of a Porsche gets you hooked. I've had many fast cars from Nissan GTR R35S to 911 Turbos. I always go back to Porsches.

Thank you. Usually, know the pcv valves are integrated with a cover which sucks. My car has a cover of this type like yours which made me very happy when I found your video. Let me ask you? Have you decided to change pcv to find out how it has to be done or your vehicle had some symptoms like oil in the pipe going from the bottom of the engine to the air filter housing?

I wanted to see you jack up the front and get the dang thing up on 4 stands.
